Help little critters get free from obstacles and out of harms way by giving them instructions to stick to
- Multiplayer support
- Large number of levels
- Very addictive
- The idea is lacking some originality
Pingus is a platform game that might be considered an open-source version of the classic Lemmings game.
In case you don’t know it, Lemmings is a game released in 1991, which had the objective of guiding a group of small creatures to the exit. The difficulty lies in the fact that these creatures are not very intelligent and tend to walk forward despite the dangers or obstacles they encounter. To stop them from harming themselves, you must give them commands, such as “build a bridge”, “dig a tunnel” or “send the remaining lemmings in another direction”. For each level you’ll need a different combination of commands and, even though at first it´s quite simple, in the advanced level the puzzles can be quite challenging.
Pingus is a free indie game that recovers the idea of this classic, but with a different twist. In this title you’ll also have to guide a group of penguins so that they reach the exit safely; for this purpose, you’ll have to give them specific commands and instructions. This title, however, is much more than a clone of the 1991 classic. You’ll encounter new levels, different commands and secret levels, among other innovations. You’ll even be able to play in multiplayer mode, with a screen split in two.
On the other hand, Pingus has the benefit of being open-source, meaning that it´s constantly being developed. Since it´s completely free, new functions and levels are constantly added by its users.
If you are looking for a simple, addictive and very entertaining game, don’t hesitate any longer to download Pingus for free and have hours of fun guiding the penguins.
