Send a variety of multimedia content, create group chats and more with this instant messenger.by Benjamin Larkin
WhatsApp 2015 is a free instant messaging service for Android, developed by WhatsApp Inc., which allows users to send and share a variety of multimedia content between one another. The app is available to download here, completely free.
The Messaging Revolution
Instant messaging was popularized by MSN messenger, the first instant messenger of its kind. Comprising a compact chat window with basic text entry options, it enabled instant communication in increasingly creative ways with people from all over the world. Since then, the divide between text messaging, instant messaging and indeed any other form of communication in this manner has been dissolved, and for many WhatsApp is the culmination of this: an instant messenger service that is free to use, versatile in its functionality and which effectively replaces text-messaging for the majority of its users. In many ways, WhatsApp is a messaging revolution.
Getting started with the app is simple, with a quick download and installation process. Following this, WhatsApp will automatically scan your list of contacts on your smartphone and determine which of them currently have WhatsApp installed on their phones. This will connect you instantly with them and display them in a central list known as 'Chats'. Similar to other instant messengers, with WhatsApp each of your contacts will have a dedicated chat window assigned to them, letting you view their message history or send them a quick text any time you choose. The interface for the app is very straight forward. At the top of the screen you have your 'Search' option, a 'Create New Message' button and a series of other settings. When you are chatting with someone, the app uses a built-in delivery notice system, whereby two blue ticks will indicate successful delivery of a message.
WhatsApp's default chat interface is its bread and butter, and arguably its most important feature. While chatting with someone and typing (tapping) away on your keyboard, you will notice several strategically placed symbols to supplement your communications. On the left are your emoticons, used to add a creative flavor to your messages; then there are your media and voice clip options, allowing you to add pictures, video clips, hyperlinks and short voice clips to your messages. At the top of the chat window are even more options, including voice calling, media history from the contact, and an attachments button. This button is not reliable as a standard messenger, since there are many formats that it does not support, such as any kind of text file. Chat logs are color coded, dated, and have the option of adding custom wallpaper. Through 'Chat settings', you will be able to edit and further personalize chats by modifying font size. You can even save, archive, email or delete all conversations with a specific contact.

Additional Chat Features
The latest version of WhatsApp contains many additional options for its users, in an effort to compete with other messengers such as Facebook. First, there is the 'Group' feature, which lets you form a group of users dedicated to discussing a particular topic. This is highly useful when organizing a social event such as a night out, a charity event, a soccer match, etc. Best of all, the group will be contained in a single chat window. Next, there is the innovative 'broadcast' feature. This will let you send a single message to all of your WhatsApp contacts instantly, for instance if you have a birthday coming up or some other event.
If you are interested in switching up your chat interface, WhatsApp also has a 'WhatsApp Web' option, allowing you to use your WhatsApp app on your PC and use your keyboard to type messages. This is a feature which has been highly requested by WhatsApp users. All you have to do is open up the QR code reader with your app, access the WhatsApp Web page, scan the code on screen and all of your WhatsApp information will instantly be displayed on your PC screen. This is particularly useful if you're in the office, are not using your phone, but still want to be able to keep up to date with your contacts. Please note that WhatsApp for PC as an individual download is not available on Eazel.
The latest version of WhatsApp reinforces its already polished features, providing the most effective chat service for your smartphone. Connect with contacts instantly through scanning of your contact lists, voice calls and instant messages. Chat with them in new and exciting ways using the group chat and broadcast features. The chat interface has been updated to include emoticons, file attachments as well as pictures, video clips and voice clips, making chatting the most personal experience ever. WhatsApp Web will allow you to connect with the web version of the app, letting you quickly resume chatting on a much larger screen. If you're someone who has a busy social schedule and where staying in touch is essential, WhatsApp 2015 is the must-have instant messenger. It's simple to use, compact, multifunctional and tailored perfectly to the social media savvy user. Download it now and experience it for yourself!
