Farming Giant is a highly entertaining farm simulator game for PC, developed by Actalogic, in which you get the opportunity to manage a farm from the ground up including everything from planting crops to purchasing livestock. The game is available here as a demo version only. The full version is available externally.
Become a Real Farmer
The life of a farmer is definitely a lively one. If you've ever wanted to experience this kind of a life, then you'll get a great chance to do so with this game. In Farming Giant, you are tasked with running a farm, helping it develop and ultimately becoming a highly successful farming mogul in the process. If you feel that you are up to the task, then I'd definitely give this game a try. The game is made up of a series of scenarios, each of which asks you to perform a particular set of tasks. In all, there are four game modes in the game, each of which offers a different set of challenges to the player.
As a simulator, we are given a high degree of graphical detail from the first time we boot up the game. Landscapes can be viewed from afar or up close, with little loss in depth, texturing, color, lighting and other effects. Fields, lakes, farmland, people, animals, crops - everything blends seamlessly together to create a highly polished and realistic world for gameplay. This also extends to vehicles and buildings, sporting popular brands and architectural features seen on real life farms.
Controlling your Farm
Controls in the game are fairly straight forward, utilizing a point-and-click interface for interacting with and micromanaging objects in the immediate environment. A set of menus in the top left allows you to manage time, resources and how these are distributed. As the de facto leader of the farm, you can control almost anything agricultural in scope, including planting crops, managing livestock, building extensions and new buildings, ranching, managing production processes and so much more. The performance of each of these activities is represented numerically on a series of tables and charts, though at times I found these a little difficult to understand. By clicking on an object, you can interact with it in various ways. Observe its progress, status, or output, manipulate its operation and send it back on its way. This includes things as minor as people or vehicles and larger objects like buildings.
Perhaps the best feature about this game is that every decision you make seems to have a real impact on the development of your farm. Poor management of your livestock could result in loss of profits. Improper seed distribution can lead to a poor crop. Since everything is with a view to establishing a successful business, there is a bit of a learning curve here if you're not accustomed to thinking like a business person. If you are successful, however, your farm has no limits to what it can achieve. The game world will expand for you and open up potential farming areas all over Europe to major cities including Madrid, Rome, Paris and many more. Generally, though, the more agriculturally renowned the area, the more likely it is that you will visit it. The game will even provide you with achievements for reaching milestones in these areas.

Despite the plethora of positives one can associate with this game, there are also some issues worth reporting. Throughout my time playing the game, I found that there were a significant number of glitches which impeded gameplay severely. These included random stoppages of vehicles, disappearing objects, clipping, crashing and other issues. While none of these were particularly game breaking, they still took from the overall enjoyment of the game.
Farming Giant encourages you to be the best farmer you can be with its highly intuitive interface, realistic graphics and strong attention to detail for the creative process. Build up your farm, manage your resources and achieve success and fame in farms across Europe. Play through dozens of different scenarios and four different game modes, earn achievements and much more. It is truly the most authentic farming experience you'll ever encounter. Despite some glitches in the game, these never disrupted the gameplay that significantly. If you think you could be the next great farming mogul, then this game is a great place to start. The demo version, while offering limited playability, is still a wonderful experience for players. Download it now.
