Pinterest is a social media app available for Android, developed by Pinterest Inc., which allows users to pin and share items of interest with their friends on a huge social networking platform.
Pinterest's main objective is to direct users towards interesting content in a large selection of categories so that they might consume or share that content with other users. Once you have downloaded the app, Pinterest prompts you to set up an account. This can be done using Facebook, Google, or Email. After that, you're all set.
The first thing Pinterest shows you is a list of categories you might be interested in. Tapping a category will add it to your list. Categories include subjects as disparate as Technology, Art, Photography, Funny Quotes, Healthy Eating, and even more specific topis such as Game of Thrones or Pokemon. Whatever your interests, there's bound to be something for you. Pin about your favorite hobby, a wedding your were at, anything at all!
Find Something Pinteresting
Once you've chosen a list of categories, Pinterest will generate pins for you. Pins are short posts placed on a kind of notice board on the main page of the app. Pins are stacked in two parallel columns, with a decently sized thumbnail, a description and sharing options for each pin. Much like other social networks, Pinterest is all about sharing. If you find something that resonates with you, repinning it will place it on your own Pinterest page, and liking it will generate more hits for other users. Tapping on a thumbnail will expand the pin and enlarge the image. The only flaw here is the lack of a pinch zoom feature, but most of the time images and corresponding text are large enough. A 'Pin it' button lets you pin something to your page straight away. A list of related pins will also be displayed. To refresh your list of pins, just swipe down.
Much like other social networks, Pinterest is all about sharing. If you find something that resonates with you, repinning it will place it on your own Pinterest page, and liking it will generate more hits for other users.
As with other social media apps, Pinterest also gives you the option of sharing your discoveries with users on other social media platforms including Inbox, Facebook, Twitter, Pushbullet, Spool, and more.
